Northland’s most iconic eating experience is probably fish and chips in the port town of Mangonui - you can select the fish you want, then watch it being prepared and cooked. At the other end of the scale, a seven-course degustation menu awaits your pleasure on the Russell waterfront in the Bay of Islands.

The treaty of Waitangi was signed in in the Bay of Islands.

Hamilton/Waikato - lush, the scenery is green in the extreme. Fertile soils, reliable rainfall and kind temperatures have created a pastoral heaven. Below the surface, miracles have been wrought with water and limestone. Vast cave systems, huge sink holes and underground streams provide great scope for exploration and adventure. The mighty Waikato River travels through the region. At 425 kilometres from end to end, it is the country’s longest river. As well as providing recreational opportunities, the river drives eight hydro dams.

On a Matamata sheep farm, you can visit the remnants of 'The Shire', the hobbit village created for the Lord of the Ring’s movie trilogy. View the hobbit holes and find out how the set was created on a guided tour.

Visitors to Rotorua enjoy the region’s natural assets - spectacular geothermal activity, fantastic mountain biking, scenic walks and excellent trout fishing. Rotorua is known as ‘Nature’s Spa of the South Pacific’ and offers visitors many opportunities to rejuvenate their spirit. Soak in the healing waters of hot springs or unwind with a therapeutic massage or mud wrap. Spring nights are perfect for soaking in the healing waters of a mineral spring in velvety darkness.

With its unique volcanic landscape, living Maori culture, natural hot springs and plenty of options for adventure, Rotorua is one of New Zealand's most famous destinations.

Fabulous scenery and action-packed adventure, accompanied by a genuinely friendly local culture.

Lake Taupo's geothermal attractions include geysers, steaming craters, boiling mud pools and some of the largest silica terraces in the world. Other special experiences include the walk to Huka Falls, a game of golf at Wairakei and kayaking to the Maori carvings at Mine Bay.
